Toyota Material Handling Europe (TMHE) is pleased to announce that two of its new products have won the prestigious iF Product Design Award 2009.
The all-new Toyota Traigo 48 electric counterbalanced forklift and BT Levio pedestrian powered pallet truck have both been selected as award winners in the category Special Vehicles / Construction / Agriculture. One of the world’s best-known design competitions, the iF Product Design Award has recognized outstanding product design for 55 years.
The most compact Toyota 48-volt truck ever, the Toyota Traigo 48 range offers an intuitive driving experience with six 3-wheel models and four 4-wheel models and load capacities ranging from 1.5 to 2.0 tons. The range is engineered to satisfy customer demands in Europe’s largest electric forklift market segment, 48-volt forklift trucks.
The BT Levio powered pallet truck range is designed for safety, durability and ease of operation in loading and unloading, order picking and general pallet transport applications. Five truck models for pedestrian operators offer load capacities from 1.4 to 2.5 tons.
Part of TMHE’s comprehensive product range of Toyota counterbalanced forklifts and BT warehouse equipment, Toyota Traigo 48 and BT Levio are designed based on extensive European customer research and are manufactured according to the strict quality standards of the world-renowned Toyota Production System (TPS).
For 55 years, the iF design award has served as an internationally recognised trademark for outstanding design. By winning this award, Toyota Traigo 48 and BT Levio have received the iF seal of design excellence, which remains valid throughout the product life cycle.
Judging for the iF Product Design Award was conducted on the basis of design quality, workmanship, choice of materials, degree of innovation, environmental friendliness, functionality, ergonomics, visualization of use, safety, brand value, branding and universal design. Of the 2,808 products submitted for consideration in 16 categories, 802 received awards, including BT Levio and Toyota Traigo 48.
Jonas Tornerefelt, TMHE Vice President Product Planning said: “We are delighted to announce that Toyota Traigo 48 and BT Levio have been selected as winners of the iF Product Design Award 2009 and will carry the iF quality seal.
