TPS starts with customer orders and culminates in the timely delivery of finished products. It relies on a finely tuned assembly sequence that uses only the required quantities of items exactly when they are needed. We call this ‘Just-in-Time’ production.
The Just-in-Time concept has several major advantages. It reduces the need for maintaining large stocks of parts and allows us to respond quickly to changes in customer requirements. It creates a ‘pull’ production system that precisely answers changing market demands.
